What is The Smallest Winner Competition?

  1. A three month weight-loss/wellness competition organized by The N.E.W. Program and the exercise trainers.
  2. The challenge will begin with a weigh-in and weigh-ins will be repeated every 2 weeks for a total of 6 weigh ins. The competition will be repeated indefinitely as interest dictates.
  3. Teams of four or more people compete to lose the highest percentage of weight - not necessarily the amount of weight - during the competition (starting weight of 220 pounds with finishing weight of 200 pounds would be 9% weight loss).
  4. Prizes will be disbursed to the individual "smallest winner" for every 2 weeks and the overall individual "smallest winner" and team "smallest winner" at the end of the 3 months.

How does it work?

  1. Each competitor/team has initial weigh-in at first education class with the exercise trainers moderating the weigh-ins (possible video blog/diary).
  2. Weights will be compiled and tracked on a spreadsheet and awards given accordingly.
  3. After weigh-in, competitors will participate in an exercise education class (boot camp - stations) lead by the exercise trainers.

Why will it be successful?

  1. Team effort motivates competitors to stay focused on losing weight through eating habits and exercise.
  2. Prizes motivate competitors to remain competitive throughout the three month program.

Who can join the competition?

  1. Any N.E.W. Program member may join a 4 (or more) person team.
  2. Team should be evenly balanced between LAGB, GBP, VSG, and non-surgical patients.

What are the benefits of The N.E.W. Program “Smallest Winner” competition?

  1. Weight loss and regular exercise lead to better health.
  2. Team competition promotes camaraderie, encouragement, accountability and motivation among team members and others.
  3. Weight loss leads to more energy, increased productivity, and higher self esteem.
